UNDERWRITING A PROJECT OR PROJECTS
We are especially interested in mounting projects that matter to you. If your corporation or Foundation is concentrating on a specific social need or a specific country, we’ll work with you to create a project that meets your needs.

We are also working throughout the developing world to create projects that meet the needs of specific non-governmental organizations. If you are interested in learning more about those projects -- and possibly funding them -- we’d be happy to visit with you at your headquarters.

The overall cost of a project includes travel and living expenses for our volunteers, $50 per day per volunteer in project management fees for Encore, and whatever management fees are required by our indigenous partner(s).

Because they vary considerably in size, however, the actual cost for specific projects will depend in great part on such factors as the local cost of living, the number of volunteers and their types of assignments, and the ability of our indigenous partners to provide free housing and other assistance.

PROVIDING CORE FUNDING FOR ENCORE
Encore’s core costs are those not covered by its project management fees. Our projected monthly burn rate for core costs during our first two years of operation is approximately $32,000, which covers salaries, benefits, travel expenses, information technology services, telephone and other communications expenses, rent and utilities, office equipment and supplies, and other routine expenses.

PAYING TRAVEL AND LIVING EXPENSES FOR VOLUNTEERS UNABLE TO DO SO THEMSELVES
Although a few volunteers will be able to pay their own travel and living expenses, most will not. The average cost to support a single volunteer in the field includes:

  • Roundtrip international airfare of approximately $1,200 to $1,800
  • Daily living expenses ranging from $75 to $200, depending on the country and the specific site (some organizations hosting Encore volunteers will be able to reduce the daily living expenses by providing free housing and other assistance)
Dollars contributed for this purpose will be placed in a restricted pool.
